10 weeks, one live session per weekMaximum 12 participants30 hours of live instruction and supervised practice

Overview

What this program covers

A ten-week cohort program for people who want to coach well rather than quickly. You will learn the core coaching conversation — contracting, listening, questioning, structuring a session and closing with commitment — and practice it in live triads with feedback every week.

Who it is for

  • Managers, HR and L&D professionals who want coaching skills they can use on Monday
  • Career changers who want to build a coaching practice from a credible base
  • Trainers, teachers and consultants adding formal coaching capability

Entry requirements

  • No prior coaching qualification required
  • Willingness to be coached yourself during practice sessions
  • Around five hours a week for ten weeks

What you will be able to do

  • Run a complete coaching session from contract to close, confidently
  • Listen for the real issue rather than the presenting one
  • Ask questions that open thinking instead of closing it down
  • Give and receive feedback without it turning into advice
  • Explain your coaching approach and boundaries to clients and employers

Curriculum

Every module, session by session

You can see exactly what is taught before you pay for any of it.

The coaching conversation

What coaching is, what it is not, and where its boundaries sit.

  • Contracting: purpose, scope, confidentiality, logistics
  • The coaching mindset versus advice, mentoring and therapy
  • Session architecture: opening, exploring, committing, closing

Listening properly

The skill that carries every other skill in this work.

  • Three levels of listening and where most people get stuck
  • Noticing what is not said: energy, absence, repetition
  • Recording and reviewing your own listening

Questioning that opens thinking

Fewer questions, better questions.

  • Open, focused and challenging questions
  • Avoiding the leading question trap
  • Silence, pace and when to say nothing at all

Structuring change

Turning insight into action that survives the week.

  • Goal setting that is specific without being rigid
  • Designing experiments between sessions
  • Accountability that supports rather than pressures

Working with real material

The situations clients actually bring, and how to handle them.

  • Career doubt, stalled searches and confidence dips
  • Emotion in the room: naming it without derailing the session
  • Ethics, referral and knowing when coaching is the wrong intervention

Becoming a practitioner

What your practice looks like after the program.

  • Your coaching philosophy, written in your own words
  • Supervision, continuing development and reflective practice
  • The honest economics of a coaching practice

Questions

Questions about Foundations

Is this a certification recognized by a professional body?

This program certifies completion of our own structured training and includes supervised practice hours you can document. It is not itself an accreditation from an independent professional body; we will tell you plainly on your call which external credentials are worth pursuing for your goals and what they require.

How much time does it really take?

Plan for five to seven hours a week: one 90-minute live session, one practice session with your triad, and about two hours of preparation and reflection.

What if I have to miss a live session?

Every live session is recorded and you can catch up within the week. If you miss more than two, we will arrange a catch-up session with a facilitator so the practice hours still count.
